Getting Started With TaskTime Pro: A Quick Guide

A quick, practical guide to getting up and running with TaskTime Pro — from your first project to your first invoice in about five minutes.

TaskTime Pro is designed to get out of your way and let you work. There’s no sign-up form, no email verification, no onboarding wizard with 12 steps. You open the app and start using it.

That said, here’s a quick walkthrough to help you get the most out of it from day one.

Open the app

Head to app.tasktime.pro and you’re in. Everything runs in your browser — there’s nothing to install (though you can install it as a PWA if you want it in your dock).

Your data is stored locally in your browser. No account, no server, no cloud required.

Create your first project

Click on Projects and create a new one. Give it a name (the client name or project name works great) and optionally add a client with their contact and billing details.

Tip: If you work with the same client on multiple projects, create the client first under Clients — then attach them to each project. That way, client info carries over to invoices automatically.

Add some tasks

Inside your project, add the tasks that make up the work. Keep them specific — “Design login page” is better than “Design work.”

You can:

  • Create subtasks for complex items
  • Set tasks as recurring (great for retainer work)
  • Reorder tasks by priority

Start tracking time

Click the play button on any task to start a timer. TaskTime Pro supports multiple active timers across different projects, so you can switch between client work without losing track.

When you stop a timer, it automatically creates a time entry linked to that task. You can also add manual time entries if you forgot to start the timer or need to log time after the fact.

Log expenses

Under your project, you can add expenses — one-time costs like a domain purchase, or recurring ones like a monthly hosting fee. Mark expenses as billable if your client should see them on the invoice.

Generate an invoice

When it’s time to bill, go to your project and create an invoice. TaskTime Pro pulls in your tracked time and expenses, so you’re not starting from scratch.

Customize the template with your business logo, payment details, and notes. Then generate a PDF and send it off. You can track whether it’s been paid, partially paid, or is still outstanding.

Set up sync (optional)

If you use TaskTime Pro on multiple devices (say, your laptop and your phone), you can set up cloud sync under Account settings and choose Google Drive or Dropbox. The sync documents are stored in TaskTime’s application area in your own provider account rather than a TaskTime-hosted workspace, and routine file requests travel directly from your browser to that provider.

Sync is entirely optional. The app works perfectly fine without it.

Install it as an app (optional)

Open the TaskTime Pro app first. The public website and blog are not the installable app. TaskTime Pro is a PWA (Progressive Web App), which means you can install it from a supported browser while visiting app.tasktime.pro:

  • On desktop: Look for the install icon in your browser’s address bar
  • On mobile: Use “Add to Home Screen” from your browser menu

Once installed, it behaves like a native app — with its own icon, offline support, and instant launch.

An existing installation from tasktime.pro belongs to the old app origin. Keep it and its browser data until your workspace has been safely migrated and verified in the new app. Do not clear browser storage or uninstall the old app as a migration step.

That’s it

TaskTime Pro is free to use. The optional Pro plan adds unlimited active clients, advanced reports and hosted email sending.

Just a clean tool for tracking your freelance work and getting paid. Open TaskTime Pro and give it a spin.
